You have eight or more years of experience in professional software development including Linux use and development, automated build and test systems, configuration management, and scripting. You have held a position of responsibility or supervision in leading other team members. You are ready for a challenge. As a Project Engineer for the Digital Cinema Systems group, you contribute to the design and development of automated build, test, and release systems for the software on the Dolby Digital Cinema System. This class-leading system for digital movie playback in theatres is built on world-renowned Dolby hardware, includes robust system software for streaming media, and is backed by a theatre management system using the latest in Java and enterprise open source software.



You report to the Director of Applications Software as you support the project’s software development lifecycle by designing and implementing automated build systems and procedures, developing and automating test procedures and infrastructure, and ensuring that releases are built and packaged reliably. You do this through expert use of configuration management and design of software build systems. You develop scripts and use other tools to automate test procedures.



You help reproduce and diagnose field issues. You deliver products for customers you know by name: Regal, AMC, Cinemark, Disney, Sony Pictures, Lucasfilm, Warner Brothers, Fox, and others. Best of all, you work closely with other great team members in a small, close-knit software group to ensure the highest possible quality and timeliness for each release.



Essential Job Functions:

  • Plans, designs, implements, and automates comprehensive build, test, and release systems and procedures to ensure timely reporting of problems and availability of releases.
  • Uses established software tools (build, test, scripting, configuration management) and technologies with expertise.
  • Develops ideas for new technologies, tools, or methods applicable to assigned tasks and serves as conduit for new technology development.
  • Provides technical assistance and expertise to other team members, management, and Marketing.
  • Meets with external vendors and partners to examine new products and technologies.
  • Leads teams investigating field problems and provides status reports to management. May work with customers on-site.
  • Establishes the task schedule, subsystem definition, task milestones, effort estimates, and technical goals for build and test systems.


Requirements:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science plus eight years of relevant professional experience.
  • Good verbal and written skills.
  • Experienced with automated build procedures, configuration management, and automated testing of both black box and graphical user interface software
  • Strong project-oriented software skills in planning, estimation, and task breakdown
  • Able to work independently as well as lead other team members
