What is a Career Network?
A Career Network is a network of contacts including friends, family members, coworkers and classmates that connect together on Beyond.com to share jobs, resumes, Online Career Portfolios and career advice to help one another become better business professionals, find jobs and build successful careers.

Why is building a Career Network important?
Career networking is a powerful job search tool that will help you build your personal brand and provide assistance, advice and contacts throughout your job search and entire career. By creating your own Career Network on Beyond.com, you can share information and gain knowledge from other experienced professionals within your Career Network.

Who can create a Career Network?
Any member that has an active account with Beyond.com can automatically start to build a Career Network. Visit your Job Seeker Desktop for more information.

How do I create network connections?
There are four ways to make a network connection.

1. Invite a friend, family member, colleague, or classmate to join your Career Network and have them click on your personal Career Network Link and create an account on Beyond.com.
2. Share your Online Career Portfolio with someone that is not currently a member of Beyond.com and have them click on the “Create a Portfolio” link and create an account.
3. Email a job to a non-member (using the “Email” link on the job search page) and have them create an account and apply to the job.
4. Invite existing members of Beyond.com to join your Career Network by clicking on your Career Network Link.

What is a Career Network Link?
A Career Network Link is a personalized link that is assigned to each member of the Beyond.com community in order to create connections. This link can be found on your Career Network Connections Page and should be promoted to friends, family, colleagues, and classmates so that they can join your Career Network.

What is a Career Network Connections Page?
On your Job Seeker Desktop, you will see an area entitled “My Network.” Within that area, there is a link entitled “Career Network Connections.” From this link, you can access your Career Network Connections Page that will include your Career Network Link, ways to promote your network to build connections, and information about your recent connections. You can also view and enter current promotions to keep you motivated along the way.

How do I start building my Career Network?
You can invite friends to join your Career Network by sending a personal email with your Career Network Link, by advertising your link on your social networking pages such as Facebook or LinkedIn, or by sharing jobs, career articles, and your Online Career Portfolio with potential networking contacts.

Just click “Invite Your Friends”, “Create a Custom Email” or “Share Your Portfolio” links located within your Career Network Connections Page to take advantage of our standard email templates to easily invite friends. You can also invite multiple friends by uploading contacts from your personal address books.

How do I share jobs, career articles, and portfolios with my network connections?
It’s important to share valuable career resources with friends, family, colleagues, and classmates in order to help one another achieve their career goals.

• Share Jobs
  When searching for jobs, it is important to also look out for jobs that would be valuable to your friends. To send a job to a friend, simply click on the “Email” link underneath the job. From there, you can insert their email address as well as a personalized message encouraging your friend to view and apply to the job by creating an account.
  
  
• Share Career Articles
  When searching career articles, it is important to look out for articles that would also be valuable to your friends. To share an article with a friend, simply click on the “Email” link underneath the article. From there, you can insert their email address as well as a personalized message encouraging your friend to read the article.
  
  
• Share Online Career Portfolio via Email
  You can easily share your Online Career Portfolio with friends to promote your skills and accomplishments and encourage them to build a portfolio of their own to better market themselves to potential employers. Simply click on the “Share My Portfolio” link at the top of your Career Network Connections Page to use our standard email template.
  
  
• Share Online Career Portfolios via Social Networking Sites
  You can easily share your Online Career Portfolio with friends by simply using the social network icons located at the top of your Online Career Portfolio or on your Career Network Connections Page to post to numerous social networks such as Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.

How can I share my Online Career Portfolio with my connections?
On your Career Network Connections Page, you will see two columns next to your connections: “Their Portfolio” and “Your Portfolio.” You have the option to share or hide your portfolio with each connection (Your Portfolio) as well as see whether or not your connection is willing to share their portfolio with you (Their Portfolio). We encourage you to share your Online Career Portfolio with your friends.

Can friends join my Career Network without becoming members of the Beyond.com Community?
A friend will not be considered part of your Career Network if they do not create an account or currently hold an active member account.

Can I lose network connections?
If a connection deactivates their account, they will no longer be considered a connection and will be removed and not counted towards any related promotions.

Can I hide my account from a connection?
You can easily hide your account from a connection by locating their name on your Career Network Connections Page and clicking the button underneath the “Hide Friend” column. The individual will no longer have access to you via email through the site or be able to view your Online Career Portfolio.

What are Career Network Promotions?
From time to time, Beyond.com will be offering various promotions to reward you for making connections and building your Career Network. You can earn entries into promotions by inviting people to join Beyond.com. Please review our Official Rules to obtain more specifics around these promotions including associated timelines.

When is a connection considered valid?
A connection is considered valid when the following criteria are met during the active promotion:

• A friend creates an account or logs into their account after being invited.
• A friend has an active account.
• A friend’s account is new in the system and didn’t exist prior. (Milestone Only)

Why would my connections not match my promotional entries?
There are several instances why your connections may not match your promotional entries. Some instances include:

• Duplicate friends exist based upon date received, as determined by site.
• Improper generation of friends.
• A self referral occurred when you referred yourself under a different email address.
• A friend is already connected with someone that you invited.
• You are not eligible based upon your mailing address (see Official Rules).
• You did not opt-in to the sweepstakes.^*

Do entries count towards both sweepstake and milestone totals?  
Your sweepstakes entry total is comprised of a single entry for new connections who create a new account and existing members you connect with. You will receive additional chances to win for any new friends that your connections create as part of their Career Network.

The milestone entry total is only compiled of new connections that create an account at a time in which a milestone is in effect. Naturally, your sweepstakes total may be larger as many of your friends may already be members. You do not earn additional points for any of your friend’s connections for Milestone promotions. How can I lose entries?
You lose entries for each connection that deactivates their account as well as all related friends associated with that account. You will also lose entries if you deactivate your account on Beyond.com.
