Beyond.com Reports Job Shifts in Third Quarter 2007

Quarterly Career Trends Report also reveals the hottest industries and regions for jobs in the country

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – October 23, 2007 - Beyond.com, Inc., the largest network of online niche career communities, today released its “Third Quarter 2007 Career Trends Analysis and Industry Outlook Reports”. While a number of industries remain consistent from the last quarter and 12-month period, the Third Quarter Report reveals some surprising job shifts and trends in both the top industries and geographic regions across the United States.

Once again the #1 industry, Information Technology represents 12.87 percent of jobs posted on the Beyond.com Network in the third quarter; Sales & Sales Management moved into the #2 spot with 12.77 percent; and Healthcare & Medical fell to #3, representing 10.5 percent of jobs posted. Most notably, the Travel, Hospitality & Restaurant industry channel leaped from #8 to the #4 position at 9.05 percent. And, last but not least, despite its slight drop from the #4 position, Accounting & Finance rounded out the top five industries, representing 7.98 percent of jobs posted.

Beyond.com’s Career Trends Report also highlights some of the hottest job markets.  New York and Los Angeles, the country’s two largest metropolitan regions, remained the #1 and #2 regions for jobs posted in the third quarter. San Francisco holds the #3 spot with 12.31 percent. Representing two of the top three metropolitan regions, California proves to have a large penetration in the job market with 26.5 percent of job listings over the third quarter, with the strongest industries being Healthcare & Medical, Sales & Sales Management, Information Technology and Engineering & Architecture. The Western Region also holds the greatest concentration of executives than any other region across the country.

“California has always been seen as an economic giant and career hub compared to some other areas of the country, especially for jobs in the Information Technology sector,” says Rich Milgram, CEO of Beyond.com, Inc. “However; other industries such as Healthcare & Medical continue to experience a surge in jobs, especially in the nursing profession, where shortages are common and salaries are often higher to help bridge this gap.”
