Accounts Payable/Payroll Manager

The Accounts Payable/Payroll Manager assists in monitoring the company's overall spending and cash disbursements, and ensures accurate processing and recording of the company's payroll. Key Responsibilities/Duties: Make certain bills are paid timely and accurately, and that services and goods delivered to the business are per the negotiated amount. Provide timely and accurate financial information, and participates in the daily payroll system maintenance. Processes four (4) semi-monthly payrolls each month Researches and resolves payroll problems and processing errors Partners with HR personnel to ensure employee information is accurately set up in payroll/accounting system and pay issues are resolved in a timely manner Answers employee's payroll related questions thoroughly and in a timely manner Enters invoice amounts into accounting system, produces checks in a timely manner, and reviews invoice amounts to ensure proper payments and timely completion Acts as interface between Beacon and payroll service company to ensure that appropriate government-mandated reports, such as: tax filings, quarterly tax reports, and annual W2s and 1099s are prepared and submitted Prepares federal, state, and other regulatory reports and ensures compliance with established guidelines; keep informed of governmental regulations and procedures affecting the organization's finance and accounting procedures Education and/or License/Certification Requirements: Bachelor degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited college or university preferred Related Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: 2-3 years of Accounts Payable and payroll experience with Bachelor's degree; 6-7 years of Account Payable and payroll experience without Bachelor's degree. Proficiency with Deltek accounting system, GCS Premier preferred, but Costpoint and other major accounting software packages acceptable Proficiency with MS Office, specifically Excel Analytical and problem solving skills Detail oriented, professional attitude and reliable Well organized, self starter and strong time management skills Ability to deal sensitively with confidential information Basic accounting principles knowledge Ability to interact with employees and vendors in a professional manner Working knowledge of payroll best practices Working knowledge of federal and state regulations Thorough knowledge of applicable accounts payable practices and procedures Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing Adaptable to rapid change Self-Starter Essential Functions The Physical Activities: o Using fingers to type. o Feeling-Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips. o Talking-Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. o Hearing-Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making find discriminations in sound. The Physical Requirements: o Sedentary work-Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to life, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The Visual Acuity Requirements: o The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
