Armament Repairer

National Guard

Job Description
The Army National Guard uses a wide array of weapons, from small field artillery to large ballistic missiles. But they all have something in common – they are only as good as their ability to be fired. To ensure that ability, they require routine maintenance and repair by trained specialists.

The Armament Repairer is responsible for supervising and performing maintenance and repairs on the mechanisms and systems of tank turrets, tank weapons, fighting vehicles, small arms, and other infantry weapons.

You will learn vital skills applicable in any civilian career; skills such as teamwork, discipline, and leadership. You may also acquire the skills and knowledge needed for a future as an electronics mechanic, an avionics technician, or a missile facilities repairer with civilian firms that design, build, and test weapons for the military.

Earn while you learn
Get paid to learn! In the Army National Guard, you will learn valuable job skills while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance.

Job training for an Armament Repairer consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you will learn basic Soldiering skills, and 19 weeks of Advanced Individual Training. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications. Actual MOS assignment may depend on MOS availability. Benefits subject to change.

Benefits

  • Paid training
  • A monthly paycheck
  • Montgomery GI Bill
  • Up to 100 percent Tuition Assistance for college or vocational training (up to $4,500 per fiscal year, 1 October – 30 September)
  • Retirement benefits for part-time service
  • Low-cost life insurance (up to $400,000 in coverage)
  • 401(k)-type savings plan
  • Student Loan Repayment Program (up to $50,000, for existing loans)
  • Healthcare Benefits Available

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED (If you do not have a diploma or GED, you may still apply – ask a Recruiter about how the Army National Guard can help you earn your GED.)
  • Must be between the ages of 17 and 35
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards
  • Must meet citizenship requirements (see for details)
