Assist in coordinating alumni activities designed to strengthen alumni ties with the University, keep alumni informed of developments at the University, and advance the mission of the University.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
•Provide general assistance and support to Alumni Relations Director to continue developing and solidifying relations with alumni, faculty and staff of DMU through alumni programming.
•Interact with alumni, alumni board members, DMU Board of Trustees, business leaders, community leaders, and other constituencies in a professional manner.
•Maintain, update and oversee Alumni Association web site and Pulse on a regular basis; collaborate with Webmaster and Information Technology to execute.
•Create, write and publish monthly Update e-mail newsletter for alumni and contribute store ideas and features for DMU Magazine
•Facilitate, coordinate and execute annual Run DMU 5K fundraiser. Provide support in promotion and execution of other annual event fundraisers. Establish partnerships with local businesses and create a calendar identifying budget cycles to determine when is the best time for an 'ask' for DMU event fundraisers. Phone solicitation and recruitment for participation is required.
•Represent DMU and the Alumni Association in the DMU booth at state and national professional meetings; setup and tear down of the booth is expected. Some travel is required.
•Assist in coordinating and promoting alumni events and donor recognition activities at state and national professional meetings. Phone solicitation and recruitment for participation is required. Some travel can be expected.
•Administer all social networking efforts of the Alumni Association in and effort to encourage alumni engagement and participation with the university.
•Collaborate with the Development department to screen and identify key donor prospects and assist in supporting all fundraising initiatives. Phone solicitation and recruitment for participation is required.
•Give tours of the University to alumni, community groups, and dignitaries upon request.
•Assist with student activities and the mentor program to foster loyalty and activate relationships.
•Assist in promoting and coordinating Alumni Reunions. Phone solicitation and recruitment for participation is required.
•Assist in assessing alumni attitudes by periodically gathering information through person-to-person contacts and phone calls.
•Participate and successfully complete University required training including, but not limited to, harassment, ethics and/or discrimination.
•Perform other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
•Bachelor's degree, 1-3 years experience in alumni relations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Fund raising, volunteer management, event planning, or development background helpful.
•Demonstrated excellent communications (strong written, verbal) skills; ability to effectively interact with university's major constituencies including students, administration, alumni, professional associations, and the general public.
Demonstrated excellent organizational skills with strong attention to details.
•Demonstrated interpersonal and time management skills.
•Demonstrated commitment to principles of diversity and inclusivity.
•Basic PC knowledge and skills with knowledge of networks.
•Able to travel as needed.
