ASSISTANT DIRECTOR-HVAC SYSTEMS
Facilities Management at the University of Maryland, College Park, seeks an Asst. Dir. of Automation, Applications & Assessments within HVAC Systems to provide engineering support for staff by defi ning HVAC system needs. The successful candidate will provide mechanical system design reviews for all Campus Projects, determine scope of work/concept, provide system design reviews for HVAC dominant campus projects and oversee commissioning activities for HVAC systems. This position provides management oversight of the campus Building Automation Systems (BAS) including the Central Control and Monitoring Systems (CCMS) group, Stand Alone Systems, and Automated Metering Reading System. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: B.S. in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with demonstrated knowledge in HVAC principles and applications. Min. 10 yrs. of progressively responsible experience with HVAC systems and controls required, including a min. of 5 yrs. experience with turbo-machinery and cogeneration facilities. Field experience with mechanical piping systems (steam, chilled water, domestic water, sanitary, and storm) is mandatory. Field experience (system analysis, equipment trouble shooting, and system operations) required. HVAC systems operations and steam systems experience highly desirable including a min. of5 yrs. in a supervisory capacity directing work of HVAC supervisors, foreman, and mechanics. Must be an effective communicator, both in oral and written form. Proficient use of PC and computer aided drafting (CAD) required.
