Assistant Editor
A small, rapidly growing film/video production company is seeking an Assistant Editor.
Responsible for daily management of media for video editors in post-production department.
Media will be used to create video segments, both long and short format, mainly distributed on DVD and internet.
Must have initiative and creativity, while being able to take direction and incorporate notes from Post-Production Supervisor and owners in a timely and effective manner.
Possesses strong knowledge in using Final Cut Pro. Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, DVD Studio Pro, After Effects, MS Office programs.
Possesses basic troubleshooting skills with technical issues with the above programs and macs.
Maintains awareness of goals and requirement of projects; seeks guidance for resolution of creative or technical conflicts before deadlines are not met or issues arise.
Continually updates these skills through field experience and research when needed.
Basic management of media; backing up correctly, finishing jobs correctly.
Takes direction & notes from Post-Production Supervisor
Digitize audio and video when necessary.
Groups and sub-clips media for use by editors.
Create graphical elements when needed.
Strong knowledge of Final Cut Pro.
Basic knowledge of graphics and motion graphics software, including Adobe Photoshop and Adobe After Effects. MS Office applications.
Basic knowledge of DVD authoring (DVD Studio Pro), burning and duplication, including interactive media, audio compression, video compression, still frames, menus, and burning process.
Basic knowledge of compression for video clips into multiple formats.
Possesses strong communication and reporting skills.
Works quickly and keeps pace with routinely hectic and changing production needs.
