We are seeking an Associate Scientist for our Innovation Institute in Neenah, Wisconsin.
Job Summary: The job responsibilities of this position are primarily (~70%) the non-routine specialized physical testing of paper and board products as well as developing new tests to understand product attributes. The ability to work independently and to demonstrate creativity is required along with summarizing data in reports and presentations. The secondary responsibilities (~30%) would include the routine testing of Georgia-Pacific products, competitive samples and specimens from the paper machine and converting lines in the Pilot Plant area at NTC. This position will also include some instrument responsibility including maintenance and control charting the measurement processes as well as minimal travel to support product roll outs.
Responsibilities: . Develop and carry out specialized non-routine testing to understand product attributes as well as support patent applications. . Develop demos from the specialized testing to help marketing communicate to consumers a product attribute. . Write reports and presentations that clearly summarize findings. . Routine physical testing of products submitted by the clients of the PTL. . Use the lab computer to input data, verify accuracy and report results to clients. . Assume PPR (Primary Person Responsible) duties for a number of instruments in the lab. This would include maintenance, training and measurement control charting. . Support trial work at the mill locations when necessary.
Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a scientific field and five years experience in physical testing and test method development.
Knowledge - Skills - Abilities: . Effective communication skills (written/verbal); . Proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). . Ability to promote an effective team environment
