AT&T AdWorks Director-Application Engineering, San Francisco, CA
The Director for Application Engineering leads the design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing and modification of computer systems and programs based on and related to system design specifications at AT&T AdWorks. He/she is expected to be highly skilled and proficient in the theoretical and practical application of specialized knowledge related to computer systems, analysis, programming and software engineering while working independently and without close supervision.
The Director is expected to deliver results and innovation in user experience, modern interfaces, web system architecture, and information delivery. Also, he/she will be expected to build and lead a new team at AdWorks.
Essential Duties:
Expert to work with vendors, internal stakeholders, customers and close scope/arch/design-specifications, and guide technical team working on system architectural specifications
Expert at guiding to solve end-to-end problems
Ability to manage managers and Sr. Technology Staff
Ability to drive and review execution strategy for large parallel development projects
Estimate size / effort / schedule / budget while dealing with ambiguity in master project requirements - making appropriate assumptions about items of major impact.
Raise risks / issues that could hurt delivery
Escalations to next level or higher engineering management made in a responsible manner
Ability to estimate the work and technical risks in the project
Strong development experience in Java, JSP, Oracle Web center, Javascript, AJAX, HTML5, Ruby.
Qualifications:
BS Computer Science required or related engineering field. MS and or PhD desired
Minimum of 5-10 years' experience in web and application technologies
High level of proficiency in basic computer skills with a passion for technology
A commitment to continuing education to strengthen skills and broaden expertise
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities
Ability to learn new skills quickly with minimal guidance
Dedicated to achieving project schedules and milestones
Ability to work in a team environment with aggressive deadlines and multiple priorities while staying a team player
Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills
Strong attention to detail
Self starter able to work with minimal supervision
