Job Description
•Troubleshoots, maintains, upgrades and repairs manufacturing and plant equipment. Performs preventive maintenance and design improvements on automated manufacturing equipment to reduce downtime and increase machine reliability.
•Experienced with troubleshooting programmable logic control (PLC) systems (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Omron, Keyence). Able to connect, diagnose, and program PLCs, specialty controllers, Proportional Integral Derivative - PID, temperature controllers, motor/servo drives, and human machine interfaces (HMIs). Must be able to read schematics and understand logical sequence of any programmable controller.
•Must be capable of reading electrical schematics, pneumatics drawings, mechanical drawings, ladder and control logic prints.
•Must be capable of diagnosing, troubleshooting, installing and maintaining electrical systems and controls from 5VDC up to 480VAC, 3 phase. Electrical knowledge and experience with AC/DC motors, linear drives, servo motors, stepper motors and drives, heaters up to 5kW.
•Oversees machine installation and works on development and improvement of maintenance procedures for new and existing equipment from a controls perspective.
•Capable of troubleshooting all I/O devices (both analog and digital) on machines - photo eyes/sensors, cameras and vision equipment, limit switches, proximity switches, temperature controllers, pressure transducers.
•Must be capable of repairing and providing general maintenance support for machinery and automation through the use of diagnostic / testing equipment, and technical manuals.
•Performs routine preventive maintenance on assigned equipment.
•Responsible to maintain spare parts inventory of his assigned area.
•Must provide training to operators and technicians.
•Must prepare documentation on training, maintenance activities, changes to drawings, prints or machinery per quality system and local requirements.
•Must be able to respond to emergency repair calls on all 3 shifts.
Job Requirements
•Ability to read, write and speak fluent English at a technical level.
•Bachelors Degree in Industrial Controls, Automation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related technical degree and a minimum of 3 years of manufacturing automation machine maintenance/fabrication experience OR similar technical certification/training in controls and a minimum of 6 years manufacturing automation machine maintenance/fabrication experience.
•Experience with troubleshooting and/or programming on PLCs, controllers, and drives (Siemens, Allen Bradley, Omron, Keyence, GE Fanuc).
•Experience with AC/DC motors, variable speed drives, servo motors, stepper motors, pneumatics, and electrical controls in a manufacturing or maintenance environment.
•Knowledge and proficient use of electrical and controls testing tools.
•Electrical knowledge and experience with electrical systems up to 480V 3-phase AC and 150VDC.
•Ability to use Microsoft Windows based software, RS Logix, e-mail, Excel, Word, internet sites, and PDFs on PCs, PDAs and laptops.
