This position is located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama (DCH Regional Medical Center)
The BioMedical Manager supervises and participates in the evaluation and implementation of clinical information technology projects, systems, and initiatives at both department and enterprise level. Will work with clinical leadership to ensure that clinical equipment and information systems enhance clinical quality and efficiency.Responsibilities include the daily operation of and supervision of BMET’s and equipment specialists.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
Leads enterprise level projects to design, implement, and maintain clinical information and medical equipment systems and networks.
Maintains compliance of assigned systems with HIPAA requirements, FDA’s MDDS rule, and meaningful use of HITECH.
Implements and maintains a Risk Management system for Medical Device Data Systems.
Assists director in establishing interoperability of the healthcare enterprise (IHE), patient care device domain (PCD).
Develops and maintains adherence to Biomedical capital and operations budgets.
Develops departmental and enterprise level policy and procedure as appropriate.
Enhances the effectiveness of Clinical Alarm and Communications systems to include Human Factors Design.
Functions as liaison between Clinical, Information Technology and Medical Equipment management personnel and staff.
Ensures that clinical information systems support clinical quality, patient safety, and operational efficiency and participates on teams as appropriate.
Plans and implements continuing education program for Biomedical staff.
Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.
Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
Five years experience in biomedical equipment technology and five years experience medical and clinical information systems and networking.
High School diploma or GED required. Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Technology preferred.
Working knowledge of Clinical Information and Communications Systems, including Virtual Environments, VMware, TCP/IP, Cisco switch technology at CCNA and CCDA level, managing user profiles, Domain Name Systems, IEEE 802.11, DECT platform, RTLS systems, RFID technology, relational databases, HL7, XML, and SAN, NAS database storage systems.
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to effectively interact with all levels of personnel and medical staff.
