POSITION OVERVIEW:
Develops moderately-difficult to difficult working drawings from existing drawings, survey data, and other field data, ensuring that they meet company and industry standards and codes. Understands the materials and methods normally used within the assigned discipline.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Utilizes a CAD workstation to prepare engineering drawings consisting of plan views, sections, profiles, and details related to civil/environmental engineering work. Gathers data from existing drawings, rough sketches, surveys, and/or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures. Works closely with other Designer/Drafters and Engineers to ensure a coordinated design.
Applies standard drafting/design principles and theories to complete assignments. Utilizes project specific specifications, work plans, and drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Qualifications: PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
2-year technical degree or certificate of completion from an accredited designer/drafter course (or equivalent) is preferred, as well as 4-6 years of relevant experience.
Local candidates strongly preferred.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES :
Must have AutoCAD Civil 3D and Map experience; Working with and transforming large bathymetric grid files; Constructing TINs and surfaces; Calculating volumes between surfaces and boundaries; Generating grading objects and creating surfaces from grading objects; Generating isopachs from contour differences; Creating large point files (>250,000 points) from surfaces; Importing and displaying large point files using point groups and styles; Creating Section and Profile views to display elevations for multiple surfaces; 3-D rendering of topography and isopachs; Working with geo-referenced raster files for over/under lays; Importing and exporting standard GIS data formats including ESRI Shapefiles and coverages; Producing thematic displays of GIS data; Familiarity with GPS surveying and data manipulation;
