Zachry Engineering is currently recruiting for a Civil/Structural Designer II for the Omaha Design Center. This position applies computerized drafting methods with a working knowledge of the terms and procedures to obtain engineered civil/structural drawings and models. Assignments will be completed utilizing information provided by project managers, project engineers or technical services staff.
Responsibilities
Develop a complete set of structural construction drawings utilizing 2-D and 3-D CADD skills with the ability to work in and reference 3D models.
Must be able to accurately draw complex civil/structural drawings from sketches or specifications using appropriate terms, procedures and drafting standards.
Responsible for checking drawings for accuracy including dimensions, spelling, drafting standards and completeness utilizing correct project design criteria
Participation in field walk downs, as necessary, to obtain measurements, verify as-built documentation, and develop field sketches in support of plant modifications and design installations will occasionally be required
Ability to communicate with project engineers and other disciplines to develop drawings and resolve design discrepancies.
Exercise independent judgment to develop designs with minimal direction from Design Supervisor, Design Lead or Engineering and will concurrently support multiple projects
Ability to interface with the customer and their construction representatives to integrate designs as required.

Associates Degree in drafting, design or engineering technology or 4 years of equivalent experience in the design of civil and structural systems may substitute year for year for degree.
Previous drafting or design experience on industrial project
Previous drafting or design experience in the power industry is a plus.
Seven (7) to nine (9) years experience in engineering drafting and familiarity with civil and structural design practices in addition to education requirements.
Proficient in AutoCAD and/or Micro Station CAD software packages and Microsoft Office software.
Knowledge of Raster Design or 3D modeling experience a plus
Recent plant modification package development and/or field experience on power plant or industrial projects is a plus
