About the Position Exelon's external communications team is seeking a motivated college graduate, graduate student or college senior interested in a career in public relations or corporate communications for an internship at the companys headquarters in downtown Chicago. The intern supports the team responsible for managing Exelons corporate reputation and key issues to external audiences through media relations and the corporate website. The ideal candidate will possess excellent writing, project management and communications skills, as well as the ability to perform in a professional, fast-paced work environment.
Start in June 2010; six-month commitment required, with possible opportunity for extension
30+ hours per week
Very competitive compensation
Responsibilities include: Writing and editing external communications materials, such as news releases, fact sheets, media pitches, website content and correspondence
Assisting with media relations activities, including reporter outreach, media list management, and media monitoring and analysis
Developing, maintaining and updating website content; using online content management systems
Conducting research into business issues, media opportunities, and media outlets and reporters
Managing administrative functions, such as media subscriptions and archives
Preferred Experience College degree or significant academic experience in journalism, public relations or related field
Strong writing, editing, organizational and communications skills
Ability to multitask and produce high-quality work under tight deadlines
Online content management systems experience a plus
Previous work experience in a corporate, journalism or public relations environment a plus
Proven ability to work independently and on a team; positive attitude
