Desktop Support / Network Administrator
Our client, an internationally renowned educational institution, is seeking a Desktop Support/Network Administrator for a 3+ month project at their campus in Los Angeles. The Desktop Support/ Network Administrator will provide technical PC support, LAN management, and network server support to various departments including IT Services, select Administration Organization departments, and other campus departments. Responsibilities include responding to end user help desk support calls; configuring, troubleshooting, and repairing laptop/desktop computer hardware; imaging of desktop and laptop computers; performing active directory management tasks; configuring and maintaining physical servers and virtual servers running on physical host servers utilizing VMware; support backup systems; and help to maintain MS Active Directory domains. This Desktop Support/Network Administrator position requires: • Detailed knowledge and demonstrated skill of imaging, configuring, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining laptops, desktop computers, peripherals and physical server hardware. • Ability to work with end users directly in a courteous and professional manner. • Ability to troubleshoot Windows 7 & XP operating system issues including network connectivity. • Detailed knowledge of MS-Office 2003, 2007, & 2010. • Working knowledge of centrally managed virus scanning systems, such as Sophos. • Ability to setup, maintain, and troubleshoot remote applications, such as VPN, VNC, MS remote desktop, Bomgar. • Skill in setting up and maintaining smart phones including Android, iPhone, Blackberry and Windows with campus Enterprise Messaging system and remote network access. • Skill in establishing and maintaining network connectivity, involving hardware including mainframes, desktop/laptop computers, network servers, network printers, and other network devices and appliances. • Working knowledge of maintaining VMware 4.x/5.x Host and Clustered servers. • Skill in working with VMware vSphere client with VMware. • Skill in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting MS Windows Server Operating Systems (2000/2003/2008) on standalone physical servers and hosted virtual machines. • Working knowledge of SANs (Storage Area Network) devices in an iSCSI dedicated network environment. • Ability to write concise, logical, and grammatically correct analytical reports and user/technical documentation. • Ability to work independently and complete assignments with minimal supervision. • Ability to work as part of a support team and collaborate effectively on support related issues. • Ability to work a flexible schedule for possible after hours and weekend projects and 24x7 emergency support as dictated by operational needs.
