Director of Development- Music
The Director of Development will focus on and be responsible for orchestrating and managing all fund raising efforts in the public and private sector for Merit. Through a well-directed strategy, this person will maintain and expand existing relationships with the current donors as well as cultivate new relationships with individuals, foundations, corporations, and other entities that will broaden the donor base. This includes implementing necessary budgeting and financial analysis guidelines to coincide with specific fundraising campaigns. The Director of Development will work closely with the President of Merit and with other members of Merit's executive team. Responsibilities of the Director of Development include, but are not limited to:
-Achieve annual and long-term fundraising goals mutually established with the Board of Trustees and Merit's Executive Team. -Identify, attract, and solicit major gifts from individuals, corporations, foundations, and government agencies through personal influence and management of the development staff. -Maintain personal contact with past and potential funding sources including individuals, foundations, and corporations, and cultivate key relationships with centers of influence within the area. -Oversight of fundraising events, including the three standing Special Events: o Gala (Board of Trustees Event) o Alegre Carnaval (Associate Board Event) o Performathon (Parent Fundraising Event) -Recognize contributions promptly, appropriately and accurately; developing sponsorship recognition packages commensurate with level of donation. -Oversee management of the Raisers Edge database. -Manage the donor aspect of named scholarships, chairs and ensembles. -Partner with organizational leadership in marketing and public relations to effectively reach and cultivate donors. -Work with Board of Trustees and designated board committees, including the Development Committee, to support fundraising efforts and foster Board engagement. -Prepare/present materials for Board of Trustee and Board Committee meetings. -Oversee involvement and development of the Associate Board. -Support the development of and use of Merit's other Boards: National Advisory Council and Civic Advisory Council.
