Director of Purchasing - Electrical Contractor

Job Duties:
Obtain and analyze vendor pricing to assist estimating in quotations. Buy as required to ensure best value, also incorporating Sasco’s means and methods.
Maintain overall purchasing department policy and direction within overall corporate objectives as dictated by the Director of Preconstruction.
Identify Strategy for distribution request to vender(s). Package quotations between regions and inter-regional to obtain best buy.
Analyze vender BOM’s (Bill of Materials) for exclusions and/or substitutions. Review, compare and package all BOM’s for exact requirements.
Meet with distributor managers on a regular basis to discuss vendor performance.
Attend regional purchasing meetings to develop policies & procedures for company.
Attend corporate overhead meetings to discuss internal issues and share ideas & changes for benefit of company.
Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years in electrical construction quotations, purchasing, or vendor sales with at least 5 years Supervisory experience required.
Proficient in MS Outlook, Excel and Word.
Superior knowledge of electrical materials and electrical vendors.
Advanced management or technical training preferred.
Extensive (10 or more years) experience in similar facility construction and related functions.
Thorough knowledge of corporate objectives impacting purchasing, quotation strategies and techniques, and purchase orders required.
Experience with large (2.5 million +) purchase orders.
Excellent organizational, supervisory and decision making/problem solving skills essential.
Must be able to work independently as well as a part of the team.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Reading and interpreting detailed specifications, drawings and RFQ’s.
