Pratt & Whitney, a recognized leading producer of the world's most advanced jet engines, is looking for dedicated individuals to become a part of our organization. We are seeking an EH&S intern to work in the Connecticut Stators & Components facility (CTSC).
CTSC is a leading overhaul and repair facility for stators, combustion chambers, fan blades, and honeycomb segments on the P&W main campus. The business generates $100M in sales annually and employs approximately 200 employees.
This is an intern position; May/June - August 2012 and it is located in East Hartford, CT.
Job responsibilities:
Support the management of all aspects of the Environmental, Health, and Safety Management system within the Connecticut Stators and Components (CTSC) organization.
Support includes monitoring and evaluating operational risks and recommending use of protective control measures and equipment.
Provide EH&S awareness information and conduct training.
Participate and assist EH&S council sub-committee teams.
Interface with union representatives and management at all levels
Implement various EH&S programs to comply with company and government regulations.
Foster active daily use of the ACE operating system through ACE tool usage to improve EH&S, quality, delivery, financial, employee engagement, and customer satisfaction.
Chosen candidate will gain experience in the following:
*Knowledge of EH&S management systems and UTC standard practices
*Implementation of various EH&S programs to comply with company and government regulations
*Risk recognition and prevention skills
*Interpersonal skills from interaction with all levels of management, including hourly workforce and union officials.

The student will get exposure to real time engineering issues in a part repair business; lean exposure and training and an opportunity to lead the cost of poor quality issues to reduce turn time and costs to the MRP business.
CTSC is an FAA regulated facility and compliance with such rules is a condition of employment.
