EH&S Manager
Hamilton Sundstrand is among the largest global suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and industrial products. We design and manufacture aerospace systems for commercial, regional, corporate and military aircraft and are a major supplier for international space programs. Our industrial products serve industries ranging from hydrocarbon, chemical and food processing to construction and mining.
Provide EH&S functional support to the Hamilton Sundstrand facility located in Arvada, Colorado. Sundyne Corporation designs, engineers, manufactures, and supports centrifugal pumps and compressors for process fluid and gas industries. EH&S experience in manufacturing environment is a plus. Job responsibilities include:
Oversee the development, implementation, documentation & maintenance of EH&S programs, policies and procedures.
Partner with management and employees to ensure EH&S regulatory compliance as mandated by Federal, State, and Local regulations and adherence to Sundyne procedures and Hamilton Sundstrand/UTC EH&S Standard Practices.
Provide EH&S related input on the design/development of facilities, equipment, work areas, & procedures.
Ensure required EH&S training is provided to workforce as well as any other customized/process specific EH&S training. Implement a robust leader training plan to ensure awareness/understanding of company and regulatory requirements/procedures.
Coordinate EH&S metric reporting to satisfy the plant site, HS, UTC, as well as State and Federal regulatory requirements.
Perform technical reviews, analyses, and inspections of processes/facilities per EH&S requirements. Support assurance reviews & program evaluations as well as other internal reviews.
Support/manage external inspections, certifications, visits, e.g. OSHA VPP and ISO 14001. Sundyne Corporation achieved VPP Star Status in August 2010 and will be striving to achieve ISO 14001 certification by the end of 2011.
Track action items; drive robust root cause analysis and mistake proofing activities.
Ensure emergency response plans for the plant site are fully developed and maintained.
Ensure occupational health/safety & medical services are in place/maintained for the plant site, to include: vendor selection & services; first responder structure & training; incident prevention procedures & initiatives; robust incident investigations and corrective action procedures; workers compensation & return to work programs; ergonomics training and prevention; wellness programs and so forth.
Stay abreast of any changes to EH&S laws and regulations that impact the plant site as well as HS policies. Communicate and implement as appropriate.
Provide leadership to EH&S staff members.

At least six years of experience as an EH&S professional with a BA/BS degree OR four years experience with a MA/MS/MBA.
Demonstrated success in leading and implementing EH&S programs, systems & projects, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Strong leadership, organization and project management skills; able to perform/lead a variety of tasks, planned and unplanned with an exceptionally high level of quality to meet goal dates.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills (formal/informal); able to effectively communicate and work with all levels of the organization/external agencies, e.g. employees, local/regional/corporate leaders/staff members, city/state/federal agencies.
Proficient & comfortable in using computers and common software applications/programs (e.g. MS Office, Outlook email/calendar, Windows operating system, internet explorer, web applications).
Strong understanding OSHA regulations, standard concepts, practices and procedures; familiarity with Colorado specific requirements is a plus.
