Engine Systems Automotive Designer



The Engine Systems Automotive Designer is responsible for performing packaging, concept, design, layout and checking of systems and components related to: fuel, air induction, cooling and exhaust. Additional responsibilities include components packaging, material optimization of geometry design, welding, design, and tolerance feasibility. Create explicit geometry including use of parametric design. Conduct the following studies: advance packaging and manufacturing feasibility, and part reuse/commonality studies. Assess packaging of new components and systems. Collaborate with engineers to complete manufacturing and service studies. Define and execute static and kinematic studies. Assess geometry and design integrity. Build objectives, perceived quality, interferences and load studies, etc.

Basic Qualifications:

• Associate degree or equivalent training in a design/engineering field, other educational credentials in combination withrelevant design experience may also be considered
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Siemens NX - basic skills test will be administered

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related technical Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited university
• Extensive experience using NX parametric solid modeling
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing, assembly, GD&T practices
• Trim/chassis/final in-plant build experience
• Strong interpersonal skills to include ability to work effectively within an extended team
• Self-starter that is comfortable managing multiple assignments
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Experience using Teamcenter preferred
