Engineer, Custom Assembly
Design and develop electro-mechanical, mechanical components and assemblies used in electrical and electronic systems. Responsible to make the drawing/s, process instructions, first article or samples required to build the product. The custom assembly engineer will be working closely with applications engineer, production, quality, project management, purchasing, to successfully manage products from concept to production.
ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned.)
- Design custom cable and electro-mechanical assemblies and systems emphasizing components distributed by PEI and/or developed by PEI
- Responsible to make the component drawings, assembly drawings and process instruction, fixtures, and others required to build the product in a timely manner
- Responsible to verify manufacturability of design before endorsing to production including first build.
- To provide technical support for Production
- Work with internal groups at PEI including Applications Engineer, product management,
purchasing, quality, engineering and production to successfully manage products
from concept to production using the PEI-Genesis new product development process.
- Work with domestic and overseas manufacturers to develop components and products,
include design for cost, tool development, product qualification and ongoing
technical support
Requirements:
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (Needed/desired for this Position)
- B.S. or equivalent in electrical or mechanical engineering
Or at least 5 years work experience in a similar industry doing similar function/responsibilitites
- Experienced working with CAD software such as Pro-E and Solidedge
- Able to work with Office software and the PEI computer system
- Experience on tool and die/mold is preferred
- Has IPC 620A certification or exposure
TECHNICAL and/or MANAGERIAL JOB COMPETENCIES – (Specific Job Proficiencies and Skills)
