Engineering Manager Territory (if applicable): Supply Chain Business Unit: Supply Chain includes facilities and processes that operate to manufacture a finished product from raw material and deliver to the end-user. This business unit enhances competitive advantage, efficiency, innovation, quality and consistency. Position Purpose: The Engineering Manager ensures the delivery of engineering services to the plant. He/she provides leadership and direction in assessing, determining and executing facility capital expenditures and maintenance enhancement needs with significant focus on improving productivity while assuring highest levels of safety, quality, sanitation and regulatory compliance.
Collaborates with plant management and corporate staff to utilize equipment to improve employee safety, production quality, equipment reliability and overall equipment effectiveness. Designs, specifies and commissions capital projects which deliver project scope, on-time and on-budget, meeting agreed to stakeholder expectations.
Remains current with latest and emerging industry regulations and codes relative to mechanical and electrical systems design and operation. Provides management of employees directly or through supervisors to ensure effective selection, retention, development, disciplinary action and performance management.
May participate in negotiations of collective bargaining agreement, grievances or other contract related activities and discussions. Ensures corporate policies and standards are followed during capital project implementation. Promotes a safe and environmentally sound workplace that complies with all applicable federal, state and local regulations. Cooperates in a cross-functional manner as a change agent with all departments within the Company. Required (Basic) Experience & Education: 7+ years of proven experience Managing Plant/Process Engineering in a high volume manufacturing environment. Significant experience managing complex, high value capital projects. Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline. Experience with Continuous Improvement (CI) Processes in a manufacturing environment. Required Competencies & Other Skills: Superior project management skills with proven ability to plan and deliver capital projects on time and within budget. Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs and lead others through change. Excellent verbal/written communication skills. Fully functional in use of information technology to include: Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Visio, MS Project and the internet. Understand World Class and Best in the Industry Maintenance practices. Expert knowledge of processing equipment operations and maintenance requirements. Ability to select, coach, develops, engage and retain a team of employees. Thorough understanding of current Food Safety Standards. Thorough understanding of PLC troubleshooting, Ammonia systems, pressure vessels, crewing, and preventative maintenance and down time prevention. Preferred Experience & Education: 10+ years Food/Dairy Manufacturing experience. Experience working with and managing a union work force. Master's degree in Engineering discipline or MBA. Identifying & Managing energy efficient projects. P.E. Certification. Preferred Competencies & Other Skills: Six Sigma Black Belt.
