BASIC FUNCTION The Compliance/Plan Document Specialist has primary responsibility for preparation of plan documents, plan amendments, resolutions, SPDs, SMMs, IRS determination letter filings, and QDRO reviews. The Compliance Specialist works under general supervision of Principal/Sr. Compliance Consultant and exercises initiative and independent judgment in tasks performed. JOB RESPONSIBILITES Prepares plan documents, amendments, and resolutions for DC and DB plans Prepares IRS Favorable Determination Letter filings for DC and DB plans Prepares SPDs and SMMs for DC and DB plans Prepares required IRS / DOL notices for DC and DB plans Plan corrections under IRS / DOL voluntary correction / compliance programs (EPCRS, DFVC, VFC), including calculation of any excise taxes, compliance penalties, or restoration amounts Reviews DC and DB Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDROs) Legal research using subscriber services and other online sources Maintains a general working knowledge of ERISA rules applicable to employee retirement plans Prepares other documentation, reports, etc. as assigned Observes Millimans formal peer review policy JOB REQUIREMENTS Experienced ERISA Paralegal preferred Professional designation in area of expertise preferred Proven ability to understand technical issues associated with qualified, nonqualified, 403(b), and 457(b) retirement plans Expertise in IRS and DOL regulations that govern employer-sponsored retirement plans Hands-on expertise in preparation of plan documents, plan amendments, resolutions, SPDs, SMMs, required notices, and IRS determination letter filings Strong experience with volume submitter and/or individually designed plan documents is a must Expertise in QDRO rules and requirements, including hands-on review and qualification Must possess strong problem solving skills Experience with Sungard Relius (Corbel) documents (AutoDoc) is a plus Must be dependable, well-organized, and able to work efficiently and independently Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines Proven ability to work in a team environment Must possess working knowledge of MS Excel and Word and have an aptitude for learning additional software applications Willingness to work overtime as workload dictates COMPENSATION A competitive base salary, plus a performance-based incentives bonus tied to the overall business performance.
