Executive Director - New Product Development
Position Description:
Executive Director- New Product Development
Reporting to the Vice-President of Engineering, provides both technical and program leadership for definition, development, and production launch of new product programs.
Responsibilities:
Lead internal and/or external engineering teams in the development and successful launch of new transmission and driveline components
Drive adherence to and accountability for compliance to ATI’s POCE process and other key initiatives targeted at reducing cycle time and improving launch performance
Facilitate adoption of concurrent engineering principles and coordination of engineering activities with purchasing and manufacturing
Facilitate translation of customer/market requirements into a product specification and drive ATI concurrence to product and program objectives
Ensure effective application of the resources and technology required to meet all product program objectives
Facilitate acquisition and/or development of engineering core competencies necessary to meet organizational objectives
Develop and manage 5 year operating budget
Skills and Qualifications:
BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering, or other engineering field
Direct experience in automatic transmission design, development and production launch
Familiarity with the operating principles of manual transmission, electric motor, and energy storage systems
15 years professional exp with a minimum of 10 years line mgt experience
Strong operational, program mgt, and leadership skills
Effective team builder with demonstrated “concurrent engineering” skills
Effective communication skills
Strong understanding of engineering analysis and problem solving tools including, DFMEA, component modeling and simulation, systems analysis, six sigma
