Job Duties: Become one of the esteemed professionals at the UCLA Blood Bank. We are seeking full-time staff with laboratory experience to join our Transfusion Medicine team.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in management of the blood inventory for UCLA Health System patients. Major duties include receipt and processing of blood components collected at UCLA blood collection facilities and outside blood collection vendors. Perform computer entry tasks related to the processing of the blood components. Remove samples from blood components for quality control and routine testing purposes. Organize blood units, maintain an adequate blood supply, place orders, irradiate blood components, package and ship blood components to Ronald Reagan Medical Center and outside hospitals. Respond to phone request regarding blood inventory. Maintain various extensive, detailed, and accurate Blood Bank records. Demonstrate excellence in customer service and teamwork. Work in a heavily regulated environment with strict operating guidelines to assure reliable quality outcomes. Assist in other job duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Job Qualifications: High School Diploma required, BA/BS in a biological science preferred. Previous recent work experience required. Qualified candidates must have demonstrated strong communication skills, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, ability to work rapidly and accurately with a strong attention to detail, and ability to work effectively in team-oriented environments. Basic computer navigation skills are required. Must be flexible with ability to work weekends, holidays, and work overtime/change shift as needed. Working knowledge of Medical terminology preferred.
