KEY FUNCTIONS
1. Under minimal supervision contribute to project activities through laboratory experiments. 2. Help to establish, and validate mechanistic and functional biochemical and/or cell-based studies for evaluating novel therapeutic targets. 3. Independently design and utilize novel in vivo mouse xenograft and syngeneic models to support target validation efforts. 4. Dose animals and analyze the outcome of pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic and efficacy studies utilizing subcutaneous and orthotopic murine oncology models. 5. Utilize non-invasive imaging to monitor model progression upon therapeutic intervention. 6. Assist in the utilization of in vivo models to advance biomarker discovery, understand target mechanism of action and provide target validation to establish target relevance in a defined responder population. 7. Execute standard synthetic chemistry manipulations, analyze the outcome and suggest alternative approaches. 8. Execute standard in vitro and cellular screening protocols of novel therapeutic agents and troubleshoots issues, under supervision optimize assay protocols. 9. Interact closely with other research staff across institutional functional teams. 10. Responsible for providing analytical and separation sciences support to the small molecule drug discovery programs of the Institute for Applied Cancer Sciences 11. Oversee the operation of multiple LC/MS systems and preparative HPLC/MS systems. 12. Responsible for setting up and the daily operation of the mass triggered preparative HPLC instrument. 13. Maintain instrumentation in good working order, and perform basic maintenance of equipment, obtaining prompt service from external sources as and when required. 14. Interface with medicinal chemists to ensure their mass spectrometry and purification needs are met. 15. Hands-on research towards efficiency improvements, new instrumentation, and novel techniques is encouraged. 16. Employ safe laboratory practices. 17. Maintain research records and laboratory notes.

Required: Bachelor's degree in Science or related field from an accredited university
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in chemistry or Master's degree in a related field, such as analytical chemistry
EXPERIENCE
Required: With Bachelor's degree, three years of relevant research experience. With Master's degree, at least one year of required experience.
Preferred: An expert in separation science and analytical chemical analysis of small molecules. Experience in the operation of preparative and analytical HPLC/UPLC instruments, and a strong background in mass spectrometry. Previous experience in the operation of mass triggered preparative HPLC instruments. Experience of optimizing HPLC equipment and ensuring its efficient operation, minimizing delays and improving efficiency. Demonstrated team-worker who possesses excellent problem solving capabilities and can work efficiently with minimal supervision.
