KEY FUNCTIONS
1. Under minimal supervision design, implement, document and maintain databases to support scientific research and drug discovery efforts. 2. Collect and format data for insertion or retrieval. 3. Execute queries. 4. Analyze data to ensure integrity and efficiency. 5. Participate in integrated drug discovery research teams to provide data solutions. 6. Contribute to project team. 7. Employ work safe practices. 8. Work closely with bioinformaticians and research scientists to conduct analysis of data generated by various biological technologies such as high throughput DNA, RNA, and protein characterization, imaging, cell assay, and biochemistry. 9. Perform first pass data processing/analysis of large biological data sets 10. Collaborate with biologists to conduct high level analyses for the understanding of the underlying biology. 11. Maintain and improve genomic data generation and processing pipeline

EDUCATION
Required: Bachelor's degree in Science or related field Preferred: Master's degree in bioinformatics, biostatistics, statistics, mathematics or related field
EXPERIENCE
Required: Three years of relevant research experience. With preferred degree, one year of required experience. Preferred: Applicants with background in bioinformatics or biology should have at least 2-year's programming experience using a language such as R, C/C++, Perl, Python, or JAVA. Applicants with background in non-biological science should have prior experience handling biological data. Knowledge of human tumor biology and familiarity with various public databases are required for all candidates. Preference will be given to applicants familiar with the TCGA projects or with experience in RNA sequencing data analysis.
