KEY FUNCTIONS
1. Under minimal supervision design, implement, document and maintain databases to support scientific research and drug discovery efforts. 2. Implement and maintain applications dealing with data generated by high throughput characterization technologies such as DNA/RNA sequencing and arrayCGH based on specifications defined by research scientists and bioinformaticians. 3. Collect and format data for insertion or retrieval. 4. Execute queries. 5. Analyze data to ensure integrity and efficiency. 6. Test and maintain documentations of developed applications. 7. Develop customized software/applications. 8. Implement functional web pages interfacing databases 9. Install, maintain, and integrating third party software 10. Participate in integrated drug discovery research teams to provide data solutions. 11. Contribute to project team. 12. Work with research scientists to develop software specifications and implementation plans for data management and analysis algorithms. 13. Employ work safe practices.

Required: Bachelor's degree in Science or related field with 2 years of experience or M.S. in computer science or software engineering.
Preferred: Master's degree in computer science or software engineering
EXPERIENCE
Required: Three years of relevant research experience. With preferred degree, one year of required experience. Preferred: Proficiency in R, C/C++, Perl, Python, or JAVA programming and shell scripting. Experience with a database management system such as postgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle. Working experience in a biological setting and familiarity with biological databases are desirable.
