Lift Operations Supervisor
PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE Coordinate the daily/weekly operations of The Canyons lift system. Ensure assigned lift personnel and lift areas meet all safety and appearance standards. Help to ensure that the lift staff is assisting our guests to safely use our lift system, while providing them with the highest level of guest service.
WORK CONDITIONS:
Outdoors in various temperatures and weather that can be very inclement.
Temperatures ranging from negative 0 Fahrenheit and up. Average temperature is usually high twenties to low thirties Fahrenheit in the winter. Summer months the temperatures can range from high thirties to low nineties.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Lift/push twenty pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
Shovel snow, chip ice for periods of time throughout the work day
Know how to or be able to learn to operate general office equipment. Including but not limited to computers, copiers, phones, two way radios, fax machines etc…
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist Lift Operations Manager with the recruiting and hiring process of the lift staff.
Assist Lift Operations Manager with preparing and implementing training for lift staff throughout the season.
Responsible for a group of lifts, their assigned lift staff and their entire function. Including hiring, payroll, scheduling, discipline, and performance reviews
Appropriately schedule the lift staff to coincide with budget and changing guest demands.
Responsible for keeping lift operations payroll up-to-date.
Supervise and assist with opening, transportation of staff to work sites, preparation of ramps, closing, and similar tasks.
Help to ensure The Canyons guests are receiving superior service at all times.
Confer with manager and staff to plan and coordinate services/activities, plan and assign work, resolve problems, and assist in operator training.
Deal with a variety of special problems that may arise, such as lift breakdowns or equipment malfunctions. Prepare for and assist with emergency operations.
Prepare a variety of administrative reports and records.
Responsible for accurate record keeping pertaining to all operational log sheets.
Help to provide operations with assigned breaks.
Continue and monitor on hill training.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
WORKING RELATIONSHIP General direction is received from the Lift Operations Manager, Lift Director, and VP of Mountain Operations. Coordinate activities of 80-100 staff members.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma, plus technical training in mechanics or a related field, plus 3-5 years of relevant technical and supervisory experience in the ski industry, or a combination of education from which comparable knowledge and skills is required. Broad base of mechanical/electrical knowledge and skills.
Sound technical understanding of ski lift operations.
Good basic administrative, personnel skills and understanding of math/budgets. Ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals/organizations in and outside the Company. Ability to handle emergency situations effectively.
