Hamilton Sundstrand is among the largest global suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and industrial products. We design and manufacture aerospace systems for commercial, regional, corporate and military aircraft and are a major supplier for international space programs. Our industrial products serve industries ranging from hydrocarbon, chemical and food processing to construction and mining. This position reports directly to the Manager of Materials Engineering. The materials organization is part of HS Central Engineering organization and is responsible for materials characterization and testing, providing analytical services, conducting root cause and failure analysis, working closely with external suppliers to ensure part quality as well as developing new materials for future platforms. Primary responsibilities for the position include selection of structural plastics for new programs to ensure materials produced with associated processing will meet operational design requirements. Knowledge of first article inspection process, injection molding and plastics/composite processing, and familiarity with plastics suppliers is essential. Additional responsibilities include reviewing new design to ensure materials meet customer requirements, including fire/smoke toxicity requirements. Knowledge of aerospace structural plastics and associated processing is key requirement
5-10 years experience desirable
BS/MS or Ph.D. in Materials Engineering or Polymer Science.
