Mechanical Design Engineer, Fuel Controls and Actuators
This opportunity is for a challenging and rewarding position as a Mechanical Design Engineer at Hamilton Sundstrand' Precision Engine Controls (PECC) group in San Diego, California.
PECC designs and manufactures integrated Fuel Controls and Actuators for a broad range of Industrial and Marine Gas Turbine Engines. Our unique business and organization structure offers the enthusiastic engineer the ability to impact the business in all phases of development, qualification, production, and aftermarket.
The position being offered is for a Mechanical Design Engineer to support design, development, and qualification of linear and rotary fuel controls and actuation systems.
Responsibilities include:
- Support multiple aspects of design and development.
- Work with OEM' to define product performance and certification requirements.
- Develop engineering solutions supported by technical and analytical data that will be formally reviewed by internal and external customers.
- Develop designs using Solidworks and LabVIEW
- Interface with suppliers to develop optimized designs.
- Work to documented processes that are continually being improved
Ideal candidate is creative, energetic, and eager to expand their engineering skills.
Ideal candidate would also have demonstrated mechanical design aptitude, ability to perform stress analysis, tolerance stack-ups, and root cause failure analysis and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Leadership, thoroughness, and logical thought are rated highly.
Knowledge of the following is desirable:
* Proficiency with common PC software packages, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
* Familiarity with materials, manufacturing methods, and FEA software.
* Explosion-proof design methods for industrial systems.
* Pressure Equipment Directive (PED), ATEX, CSA
* Dynamic sealing methods for pressurized gas
