Imagine yourself working with the Laboratory team within the Greater Green Bay area where you are responsible for performing clinical laboratory testing of biological specimens in any/all specialty areas using manual or automated techniques. The medical laboratory technician will use independent judgment and cognitive skills to develop data, which may be used by the physician in determining the presence and extent of disease.

Performing, evaluating, and monitoring laboratory tests as authorized within established protocols, selecting and performing additional procedures when indicated.
Evaluating results for clinical significance, validity and appropriateness.
Following prescribed policy in the reporting and notification of test results.
Performing and documenting calibration and maintenance of instruments and equipment.
Performing and documenting quality control. Evaluating quality control results and taking corrective action when indicated.
Recognizing indicators of test and/or instrument malfunction and making basic corrections by using prescribed strategies or notifies the medical technologist, site coordinator or supervisor.
Performing internal and external proficiency testing in the same manner as patient samples.
Ascertaining that specimens are properly labeled and suitable for testing.
Collecting specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients according to established protocol.
To meet the CLIA-88 requirements for moderate or high complexity testing, the following are required:
Associate degree in medical laboratory technology.
Must hold or be qualified to hold a current certification as a Medical Lab Technician as certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, the National Credentialing Agency for Medical Laboratory Personnel, or other appropriate certifying agency. If not currently certified, must achieve certification within one year of employment.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.
