Multimedia Production Coordinator REF#:WC-S-7124-12-01-S Budget Title:Instructional Support Technician State Professional Position Department:DoIT, TLT State Line#:30206 Grade:SL-3 Campus:Stony Brook West Campus/HSC Salary:$52, 000 - $67, 400 Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree. In lieu of degree, four years of directly related full time experience or combination of education and experience totaling four years will be considered. Two years of progressively responsible full time experience in Audio Visual, Television or Multi Media production field. Understanding of Final Cut or Avid Editing software either as an editor or system administrator. Experience planning studio and field productions. Relevant group or project management/leadership experience. Highly technically oriented, with the ability to evaluate situations, utilizing logical and decisive reasoning. Excellent organizational skills, communication skills (both verbal and written) and attention to detail. Ability to work equally well as an individual contributor and team t have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid NYS Driver's License; have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations. Applicants must submit their operator's license number on their application form for a motor vehicle check. Preferred Qualifications:Additional, five years of experience in television production or multimedia production. Media and television production project management experience in corporate or educational environment. Experience training others in the use of media or television production equipment. Experience setting up television equipment for live, multicamera field productions. Experience setting up camera, lighting and sound for single camera field productions. Experience in live streaming and preparing material for web. Experience in Final Cut Pro and Final Cut Server or equivalent production environment. Experience scheduling and supervising freelance (overhires; on-call, hourly or similar transient labor) workers in a production environment. Accounting or similar experience preparing invoices or managing project budgets.
Brief Description of Duties:The Multi Media Production Coordinator assists the Director, Classroom Services in coordinating the activities and scheduling the resources of Television Services Department. Hires and schedules hourly employees to assist with media productions and events based on production schedules and project manager's needs. Assists Department Director with maintenance of project files, budgets and status reports. Provides technical support including setup/preparation of studio and field systems, FinalCut Server and live streaming. Acts as a member of production crew as needed. Assist the Director of Classroom Services in Coordinating the Activities of Television Services: * Attend production staff meetings and multimedia group meetings. * Work with group members to keep well organized and up to date records of approval status, production schedules, facility and resource schedules, staff requirements and use of consumable supplies. For all projects, track use of resources closely to ensure adherence to project budget. * Work with the director and group members to ensure appropriate work load and project schedule. * Track expenses associated with projects. Generate invoices/ statements for production services. * Prepare regular reports of projects completed and in progress. * Track use of consumable supplies. Reorder as required. * When required, meet with clients, faculty and production staff to ensure proper support. Advise the Director of problems and concerns regarding budget, schedule or other issues. * Assist the Director with strategic planning, analysis of data and development of policies, procedures and reports. * Assist the Director in maintaining records of IFR service usage, income and expenditures. * Prepare purchase requisitions and other purchasing documents. * Other duties as assigned by the Director of Educational hnical Support: * Assist computer technical support in maintenance of Final Cut Server. * Arrange appropriate access to server by production staff, technical support and clients. * Organize media, update meta data, archive or delete files as needed. * Train and assist production personnel in use of Final Cut and FCSvr. * Assist production personal with file ingestion. * Provide technical support for new/temporary team members or unique production needs. * Assist production personnel with field productions. * Determine equipment needs for field productions. Schedule, assemble and setup equipment. * Assist with studio and field productions as needed. * Coordinate media and program distribution. * DVD's; Duplication and packaging as needed. * Web; Media file creation based clients need (file type and size); Live event rdinate Production Overhires and Student Assistants: * Maintain current list of overhires, their qualifications and availability. * Schedule overhires and student assistants to meet the project needs. Track expense to ensure compliance with project's approved budget. Approve time sheets for temporary labor. * Oversee projects assigned to overhires. Define scope of project, duration, goals and expected final product. Schedule and assign equipment and other resources required for project. Keep well organized and up to date records of approval status, production schedules, facility schedules, staff requirements and use of consumable resources. * When necessary hire replacement overhires. Prepare documentation for temporary labor so appointment papers can be completed. Approve time ilities and Equipment: * Assist production personnel by providing access to appropriate production facilities and equipment. * Assist in-house production staff by scheduling resources. * Collaborate with engineering and building staff to ensure a clean, safe and functional work environment. * Train employees in safe and proper use of production facilities. * Create and provide training materials for production systems. * Notify engineering staff of necessary repairs and system changes. * Track the status of necessary repairs, upgrades and modifications. * Schedule and track location and use of production resources including, cameras, tripods, lighting and microphones. Work with production staff to make certain all equipment is returned, complete, to proper storage place after each use. * Assist the School of Journalism by preparing facilities for their use and providing appropriate access. * Train School of Journalism professional staff in use of equipment. Make minor repairs or arrange repairs and maintenance of studio equipment. * Professional Behavior and Practices. * Professional Development. Special Notes:This is a full time appointment. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur ht and weekend work is vel will be required to Southampton and other off-campus venues.
