When the new Meijer store at 6050 US Highway 6 opens its doors in late Spring 2013, it will bring to Portage not only a convenient one-stop destination for grocery, gas and general merchandise, but more importantly, it will provide more than 200 jobs for local residents.
Filling those positions - from clerks and cake decorators to meat cutters and utility workers - begins the beginning of February when Meijer leaders will begin conducting phone interviews. Candidates who are selected to continue in the interview process based on these phone interviews will be called back for scheduled interviews to be held at an off site location.
Those interested in a career opportunity are asked to complete an on-line application prior to Janaury 31, 2013 when Meijer representatives will begin conducting phone interviews with interested candidates. Although pay rates vary based on the position, all positions provide basic health insurance benefits for the team member. Meijer is also partnering with area schools, churches and online job sites to get the word out about these opportunities.
