Position Summary Basic Function:
The Operations Specialist Quebec is responsible for the development, translation and accuracy for store communication to Michaels Quebec stores. The Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that all translations meet legal and Michael?s standards. Acts as the lead in the development of policies/procedures for the Quebec market. This position will also participate in the development of new store processes, and workflow management and will work with various departments to resolve issues as they arise.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
* Translation: ? Create high quality translations from English to French to communicate to Quebec store locations. ? Translate real time materials like the Playbook, Weekly Bulletin and Message of the day from Store Ops and Store Planning and deliver to Quebec store locations. ? Deliver communication to stores in Quebec in both French and English via Portal and email on a timely basis supporting the Corporate Communication Protocol. ? Ensures that all translation is compliant to the language requirements in Quebec and that it is accurate and in accordance with Michaels Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). ? Serve as subject matter expert on all store-related translations.
* Leads Processes: ? Serve as the lead and resource for Quebec Store Operations procedures and processes. ? Assist in the development of new store processes and workflow management as well as updating existing store processes. ? Work with Store Operations team members to identify and create solutions for Quebec store-related issues ? Participate in User Acceptance Testing for all Quebec system enhancements. ? Address issues as they arise relating to global pricing issues that impact ads. ? Work with various departments such as IT, Pricing, Marketing, to resolve issues as they arise.
* Development of Communication ? Develop ad hoc Quebec-specific communication, as needed. ? Participate in meetings via conference call or communicating via email with multiple departments within corporate office. ? Participate in the development of procedures, methods and standards for pricing, label maintenance and ad sets including preparation, set up and signing. ? Participate in the development of procedures, methods and standards for completion of planograms and all required merchandising and sales planner activities. ? Participate in the development of procedures, methods and standards for receiving of direct shipments from vendors and Artistree, receiving, unloading and stocking merchandise received on SBA and Seasonal Trucks. * Other: ? Provide support as needed for other Quebec location store operation needs such as onsite and offsite Storage, Iron Mountain, CRI, Workbrain, 5 Star and SOPs. ? Maintains and expands knowledge of existing and proposed Province and federal legislation that could impact Quebec store operations; works with key partners to develop approaches, policies and procedures to ensure updates/changes are communicated timely and appropriately to impacted stores.
Requirements Job Requirements:
* ? 2+ Years retail experience required,
* ? Michaels store management experience preferred. * Knowledgeable expert on all facets of retail store operations and procedures * ? Must reside in Toronto
* ? Maintains regular and reliable levels of attendance
* ? Excellent verbal and written skills
* ? Excellent Organizational skills
* ? Self-starter: Able to manage multiple projects at the same time and thrive in a challenging, fast pace environment that has frequent priority adjustments
* ? Develop and maintain productive relationships with supervisor and key cross functional personnel in the company to understand the business systems and processes and sources of data and knowledge
* ? Able to work closely with and provide support to co-workers within the department

Educational Requirements:
* College Diploma preferred * Engineering, Retail, Business, Operations or French (French Canadian) preferred * ? Fluent in French Canadian and English
* ? Acknowledged as a translator regardless of certification.
* ? Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* ? Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Publisher) to create communication
* ? Able to work within Excel to design and develop spreadsheets for analysis and reporting
