Optical Sensor Design Engineer 5
The Lasers and Sensors Subsystems Department in Redondo Beach, CA, is seeking an optical engineer to perform optical design and analysis of a range of optical systems, including optical sensor and electro-optical systems and components, beam control, targeting-and-tracking systems, communications systems, and ladar and lasercom systems. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Laser & Sensor Subsystems Department.
BS in the areas of EE, ME, Optics or Physics is required. Candidate must have minimum of 14 Years with Bachelors in Science; 12 Years with Masters; 9 Years with PhD. Candidate must have core knowledge of optical systems and be able to apply modeling and simulation techniques using tools such as Matlab or C . Must have experience in the design and development of complex optical sensor systems using industry software such as CodeV (preferred) or Zemax. Successful candidate must have broad and exhaustive knowledge of optical system and component design, specification, and performance characteristics. U. S. Citizenship and active SCI/SSBI Clearance with squares is required.
20 years experience with advanced degree in the areas of EE, ME, Optics or Physics. Knowledge of flight hardware environmental specifications, testing requirements and methodologies, and integration processes is highly desirable. Lens design skills and experience should be able to encompass visible, infrared, laser, reflective, refractive, catadioptric, aspheric, GRIN, and conventional & unconventional systems implementations. A background in CCDs, spatial light modulators, acousto-optic devices, phase modulators, liquid crystal devices, and detector technology components and implementations is desired.
