Patent AnalystDescription: This position ensures support to teams Intellectual Properties (IP) and Knowledge Management (KM) for International Business Unit, mainly Technology Center in Pittsburgh and the industrial plants in the U.S. Also, integrates and manages data bases and libraries, connects U.S. and international teams from Brazil.
Activities: • Performs searches of patents and scientific articles for technical staff, assisting in the analysis of documentation and supporting the next steps • Coordinates patents management to include: patent searches-both patentability and freedom to operate, invalidity studies, US prosecution procedures, patent disclosure mining, patent docket management, etc. • Disseminates and trains staff in knowledge base, summary of electronic journals, knowledge communities and encourages the registration, protection and sharing of knowledge. • Integrates and organizes library collections of existing libraries with the current physical modules (scanning, registration, acquisition and loan) • Provides guidance regarding emission standards for reports, studies, opinions and technical Information
Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Plastic Engineering. Minimum 3 yrs experience in patents management (patent searches-both patentability and freedom to operate searching, US prosecution procedures, patent disclosure mining, patent docket management, etc.) and/or knowledge management (libraries, share point, articles searches and engines)
Must be an excellent communicator, with solid interpersonal skills to function with a team group and interact with differing levels of the organization and international locations. Must demonstrate outstanding problem solving, analytical, organizational, planning, and computer skills.
Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience: Registered patent agent (or qualified to take and pass the USPTS’s patent agent exam) preferred
