Performing Arts Management Intern

The Talent Manager, also known as an Artist Manager, is an individual who guides the professional career of artists in the entertainment industry.

The Talent manager is in charge of the business side of the arts, such as promotions and marketing and booking. In a very general sense, the Talent Manager takes care of the day to day running of the artist's career so that the artist can focus on the creative side of things.

The true responsibility of the Talent Manager is to oversee the day-to-day business affairs of an artist and give input to the personal decisions which may affect their career.

The roles and responsibilities of a Talent Manager vary slightly from industry to industry. Both Mr. Fairman and Ms. Gallagher have forged careers in the performance industry, specifically, the theater. Each provides his/her own specific skillset and service in the performance industry.

For example, Mr. Fairman is a professional Magician who provides magic as a service so there is no physical inventory to maintain, per se. The Talent Manager's duties can include but are not limited to: marketing and public relations; establish connections with producers and event planners (but will not have the ability to negotiate contracts); maintain photo archives for publicity; social media management and execution.

Ms. Gallagher is both a Costume and Accessories Designer. The designing portion of her business is the service. There is also physical product or inventory as well (e.g. purses, handbags and evening items) that needs to be maintained and organized. The duties of the Talent Manager can include, but are not limited to: marketing and public relations; establish connections with directors, theater companies and theatrical festivals, individual sponsors, and galleries (but will not have the ability to negotiate contracts); maintain photo archives for publicity; social media management and execution.

Both artists are presently working in a home office. Both businesses are growing exponentially.
