Pharmacy Technician II, Per DiemReq Number 36934BR Job Title Pharmacy Technician II, Per Diem Job Code and Payroll Title 9278: PHARMACY ASST II, PER DIEM Job Code and Payroll Title 9278 PHARMACY ASST II, PER DIEM Location Parnassus Avenue Department Name Langley Porter Pharmacy Work Days M-F 7:30am to 4:00pm; Saturdays, 8am to 1pm Shift Days Weekends Shift Length Other Job Summary All Pharmacy Assistants are accountable to the supervising pharmacist or operating pharmacist who is legally responsible by virtue of state licensure for the care and safety of patients served by Pharmaceutical Services. The Pharmacy Technician II performs all activities related to traditional pharmacy prescription dispensing and medication distribution. Under the supervision by a pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician II, P.D. is assigned operational duties consistent with duties and responsibilities of a Pharmacy Technician II. Specialized duties include but not limited to activities such as handling of controlled drugs, completion and processing of billing and requisitions, computer entries of prescriptions and physician orders; will also perform other duties assigned. Required Qualifications Completion of a recognized/accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program (includes hands-on training period during externship), or an equivalent combination of education and experience; minimum experience and skills in a Hospital (Medical Center) Pharmacy and/or in a retail/community pharmacy, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; demonstrates ability to complete assigned tasks accurately and thoroughly with little need for follow-up or correction; maintains current knowledge of brand and generic drugs, indications, common side effects, medical abbreviations and demonstrates excellent computer skills & good understanding of the computer systems; demonstrate ability to type a minimum of 50 wpm; demonstrates ability to carry out calculations required for common dosage conversions employing metric, apothecary and household equivalents, record charges, tally workload statistics, reports, inventory data; maintains confidentiality of all patient information; meets work schedule commitment; properly prioritizes work and completes assigned tasks on time; communicates effectively with other health care professionals and responds to inquires by providing non-technical information or referring to the appropriate person; demonstrates excellent attendance and reliability. Physical Demands: requires bending, squatting, climbing stairs, reaching up to shoulder height; pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds; reaching above shoulder level; sitting, standing, walking, waist twisting; carrying/lifting 0-20 pounds; gripping/grasping, fine/gross finger manipulation; repetitive movements of upper and lower extremities; may be exposed to chemical agents; tuberculosis, blood, body fluids or tissue, and radiological materials; latex, dust, fumes or gases; loud noises; differentiate color; use protective equipment.
