Phlebotomy Services Technician I Department: Laboratory - Satellite Services (7010) Schedule: Per diem Shift: Must be flexible for all shifts Hours: Grade: 307 FTE: 0.10000 Union: SEIU Job Details: JOB SUMMARY: Perform phlebotomy on all patient types of all ages. Perform a wide variety of clerical duties including accessioning orders, processing of clinical specimens, preparing and departing lab specimens. Serve as a liaison between PMC departments and its customers in response to inquiries and problems. QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate or equivalent (GED) is preferred. Typing skills of 30 wpm at a minimum are required. Previous data entry/keypunch experience is required. One to two (1-2) years continuous, recent experience within a registration office or laboratory is preferred. Previous demonstrated experience with third-party payors is preferred. Demonstrated experience within medical third-party field is preferred. Course or previous background in medical terminology is preferred. Must complete a PMC approved phlebotomy-training course or have equivalent experience through previous employment. Must obtain American Heart Association CPR certification within first 90 days of employment and maintain annual re-certification. Must obtain phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency within 1 year (ASPT preferred) and maintain annual re-certification. Must successfully complete LIS training and demonstrate proficiency at the end of 90 days. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must demonstrate good customer service skills. Must participate in Hepatitis B vaccination program or sign waiver for same.
