The position is for The Norristown State Hospital located in Norristown, PA just outside of Philadelphia, PA. The position is for 8 hours per week. Work Location: Norristown, PA Primary Duties and Responsibilities Liberty is seeking a Psychiatrist to provide services 1 day per week (7.5 hours - any day M/F) for the Norristown State Hospital. Psychiatrist will be providing services for patients who have been victims of sexual abuse and sexual offenders. These patients are from both the civil population and the forensic population. WORK STATEMENT I. OBJECTIVE: Psychiatric consultant with special expertise in the field of evaluation and treatment of patients with sexual deviant behavior. This medical specialist in adult psychiatry should have at least ten (10) years experience as a professionally acknowledged expert in the field with training and experience in providing multiple modalities relevant to the treatment of such patients and should have expertise in training staff to deal with such problems. Will provide weekly treatment services to selected patients, supervision to the staff directly involved in the service provided by the consultant, and give in-service training to the clinical staff of the hospital. Will work in close coordination with the treatment teams through the Clinical Directors and monitored by the Chief Medical Officer. Specific hours will be arranged by mutual consent between the SRTP Psychiatrist and Norristown State Hospital. Services will be rendered in various buildings, based on patient needs, within the grounds of the hospital. ***ES: *** provide initial assessments of patients with sexually deviant behavior by history or current behavior. Such patients will be identified by the treatment teams through the Attending Psychiatrists and the Clinical Directors who make referrals to the Chief Medical Officer for coordination of such referrals with the contractors schedule. *** assessments will include recommendations regarding use of treatment resources within the hospital, on grounds or in the community. 3. Assessments will also include a professional assessment of level of risk associated with possible patient privileges. 4. Upon request, provide intermittent re-evaluations of patient progress and effectiveness of treatment programs. 5. Assist Norristown State Hospital staff increase their understanding and skills in the area of assessment and treatment of patients with sexual deviant behavior through team consultation and training programs that are developed in coordination with the Department of Psychiatry. 6. In coordination with Norristown State Hospital staff, conduct skills-practice groups and therapy groups on a weekly basis with selected patients. 7. Provide supervision to the hospital staff directly involved with the skills-practice groups and the therapy groups. 8. Provide in-service training to the clinical staff concerning the evaluation and management of patients with sexually deviant or inappropriate behavior. * Competitive Hourly Compensation. * Paid Malpractice Insurance. * Flexible weekday availability - one 7.5 hour day per week. Skills/Requirements Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: Psychiatrist must be Board Eligible or Board Certified in Psychiatry and licensed to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
