Job Number:44242250
Company Name:Army National Guard
Job Location:LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ US
Job Categories:Public Relations
Marketing & Advertising

Public Affairs Specialist

Newspapers, Web sites, broadcast television, and radio programs are an important source of general information about people and events in the Army National Guard. Journalists are involved in writing, producing, and presenting print, digital, and broadcast news, entertainment, and music programming.

In the Army National Guard, these duties are generally performed by the Public Affairs Specialist. The Public Affairs Specialist participates in and assists with the supervision and administration of public affairs programs through news releases, newspaper articles, Web-based material, and photographs for use in military and civilian news media. Public Affairs Specialists learn how to research, prepare, and distribute news releases, gather information for news programs and publications, develop ideas for news articles, conduct interviews, and write news releases, feature articles, and editorials.

Plus, you’ll be building a better future. The skills you learn as a Public Affairs Specialist will help prepare you for a future with newspapers, magazines, wire services, and radio and television stations. You'll be qualified to pursue a career as a journalist, newscaster, disc jockey, writer, director, producer, editor, or correspondent.

Earn while you learn
Instead of paying to learn these skills, get paid to train. In the Army National Guard, you will learn these valuable job skills while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance.

Job training for Public Affairs Specialists consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and up to 12 weeks of Advanced Individual Training. Training consists of both classroom and field work.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications. Actual MOS assignment may depend on MOS availability. Benefits subject to change.
