Status:Full Time
Responsibilities
This person will be responsible for conducting tests, inspections and assisting the Quality Assurance Manager with data collection. Performs capability studies, first piece inspections and records results. May also participate in gage studies, complete calibrations and arrange for outside laboratory tests. A strong working knowledge of steel processing, defects and inspection is required.

Inspections to be conducted include first piece inspections off the laser or oxyfuel tables, in process inspections of steel on the production line, or inspection of returned material to verify defects reported by our customers. Use and care of measuring tools and blueprint reading skills are required.

This position will also participate in the maintenance and auditing of the Quality System and participate in ISO audits. This is a fast paced work environment, which plays a supporting role to several other divisional departments.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
-Conduct Inspections
-Completes first piece or set-up inspections
-Records results
-Completes final inspections
-Completes ISIR/PPAP inspections and complete paperwork
-Reviews returned material to verify condition of parts received back
-Conducts functional tests
-Maintain Gages
-Completes gage calibrations, and document results
-Participates in Measurement Systems Analysis studies as required
-Orders replacements repair gages as necessary
-Arranges for masters to be calibrated on the outside as necessary

Qualifications
-3 years applicable document control experience in the carbon steel industry or commensurate experience within Olympic Steel is required.
-Steel industry and product knowledge
-Knowledge of computerized document control
-Proficiency in Lotus Notes, MS Word, MS Excel applications and Olympic production control computer systems
-Strong organizing and planning skills; high level of creativity and problem solving needed
-Knowledge of gage calibration systems and gage calibrations
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies
-Associates degree or commensurate experience in a related field required
