Job Description
Are you passionate about interior design? This is an outstanding opportunity for a rewarding career in sales and interior design while learning from a market leader. As a sales and interior design consultant you will assist and guide clients with the selection of furniture and decorative accessories needed to complete a room or furnish a home. This is an opportunity to run your own business while leveraging the resources of a solid, reputable leader.
Job Responsibilities
- Greet clients in a retail showroom setting and demonstrate in-depth knowledge of products and services to customers while guiding them through the selection of furniture and decorative accessories
- Work with clients in one of our retail design centers or through in-home consultations to create interior design solutions
- Prepare and present design projects and pricing to clients
- Utilize company technology to communicate with clients, vendors and ensure accurate ordering and pricing
Requirements:
Our sales and interior design consultants come from a variety of backgrounds, ranging from those with retail sales backgrounds to those with a passion for design but no previous interior design experience, from experienced designers to interior design school graduates. Success does not hinge on precise work experience, although knowledge of interior design is a huge plus. Additionally you will need:
- Computer literacy and willingness to learn new systems.
- Previous experience interfacing with clients, customers and/or sales experience or sales acumen. However, non-sales experience is okay too!
- Strong communicator with excellent listening skills
- Highly self-motivated and passionate about design and furniture
- Confident and outgoing personality with expertise at developing relationships (i.e., a “people person")
- Strong salesmanship and presentation skills
- Entrepreneurial, confident self-starter
- Coachable, dependable, with a strong work ethic

PAY
$10/hour plus commission.

Training – We invest in you! The Smithe Training Program consists of classroom instruction, hands on learning and time on the sales floor designed to give you an overview of life as a Smithe Designer.
