Duties will include participation in the Atrial Fibrillation research project and a large multicenter prospective trial on defibrillators. This will include enrolling and interviewing patients, entering data into a database. Duties will also include collecting atrial tissue samples from the operating room, phlebotomy (we can train for this) and possibly basic science laboratory work (such as performing ELISAs and preparing DNA); drawing, spinning, banking, and analyzing blood. Manage project database and assist in designing and revising database as needed. Assist in anticipated new phases of study, such as electrophysiology studies, genomics analysis, etc. Assist in preparing manuscripts, grants, graphics, etc., as needed; the incumbent will analyze the data independently and write up results for the PI. Recommend change to the protocol as indicated. Meet with the PI and other research staff regularly to review results and discuss protocol and research direction.
Additional duties will include participating in multi-center trials, including travel to investigator meetings; drafting manuscript and ancillary data proposals; reformatting and preparing datasets and will perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications SRAI: BA/BS in a related science and knowledge of, or experience with, the basic techniques or methods required by the position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; demonstrated record of excellent attendance and reliability; excellent computer skills with all software of Microsoft Office, and graphic programs (Adobe); demonstrated ability to exercise tact and discretion in sensitive communications with patients and others; demonstrated ability in handling a variety of confidential information appropriately; ability to work effectively with interruptions and simultaneous tasks while under the pressure of deadlines; demonstrated positive interpersonal skills and problem solving abilities; ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise discretion, making sound decisions when evaluating urgent situations. SRA II: In addition to the above, one or more years of recent, directly related work experience following degree completion, utilizing the techniques or methods required by the position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Physical Demands: requires bending, squatting, climbing stairs, reaching up to shoulder height; pushing/pulling up to 60 pounds; reaching above shoulder level; sitting, standing, walking, waist twisting, kneeling; carrying/lifting 31-60 pounds; gripping/grasping, fine/gross finger manipulation; repetitive movements of upper and lower extremities; may be exposed to chemical agents; tuberculosis, blood, body fluids or tissue, and radiological materials; latex, dust, fumes or gases; loud noises; differentiate color; use protective equipment.
