SUMMARY

The primary purpose of the Research Assistant II position is to provide technical and coordination skills in carrying out various research projects and coordinates procedures and performs technical laboratory duties in accordance with general and/or specific plans.


KEY FUNCTIONS

1. Coordinates and conducts experiments and carries out research projects in the research laboratories in accordance with established protocols.

2. Records, validates, evaluates and analyzes experiment data. Presents results of experiments on a regular basis to Principal Investigator.

3. Develops and maintains database and inputs, retrieves and interprets data from multiple sources.

4. Coordinates with other laboratories as necessary in carrying out experiments.

5. Documents and reports finding in a standard format.

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION

Required: Bachelor's degree with major course work in one of the basic sciences.

Preferred: Master's degree with major course work in one of the basic sciences.

EXPERIENCE

Required: Two years of experience in scientific or experimental research work

No experience required with preferred degree.


Preferred: Pathology background, data management and tissue microarray immunohistochemistry. Highly organized and excellent communication skills. Double stain with FISH and immunofluorescence histochemistry. Ideally should have experience writing manuscripts for publication.
