Our National Security Global Business is currently seeking a Research Scientist [Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist]. This position is located in Pueblo, Colorado. Senior QA Specialist responsibilities include conducting technical activities with minimum direction and broadly apply principles, theories and concepts as applied quality assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC). Selected candidate has gained recognition for expertise in data quality review and management. Candidate is responsible for large portions of projects as assigned and provides solutions to an extensive range of complicated problems.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Leads and conducts assigned technical tasks in support of Quality Assurance objectives in support of the PCAPP Laboratory, which may include, but is not limited to: agent standards accountability, chemical agent neutralization processes, waste water analysis of hydrolysate and bio-efficient, air monitoring collection, environmental sampling and analysis, etc.
* Leads independent technical reviews and assessments of test data, laboratory operating procedures, technical specifications, performance charting and instrument operating conditions and limits are maintained in accordance with governing plans and policies.
* Develops and conducts internal and external facility inspections, surveillances, audits and assessments to support regulatory and procedural compliance with applicable Army, Federal, State of Colorado and local requirements.
* Develops, implements and maintains a quality information system used to track and trend assessment findings, analyze data integrity, document non-conformance and deficiencies as assessed from internal and external reviews.
* Develops and conducts independent verification and validation of commercial off the shelf, modified off the shelf and custom software to support Laboratory configuration and data management objectives.
* Builds relationships with internal and external clients and is recognized as subject matter experts in areas of Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
* Participates in the development of materials for presentation of results to clients, regulators, stakeholders, and in public forums. Participates in scientific conferences, peer review panels, and increases company visibility through publications, as necessary.
* Assists in the development requirements of the Laboratory technical scope associated with the Quality Assurance program. Candidates may be required to identify staffing, materials, equipment and schedule elements necessary to execute proposed work.
* Train and mentor junior technical staff.
* Serves as Quality Assurance Manager Designee during the QA Manager's absence.
THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE MET TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:
* Bachelors degree in Chemistry or equivalent scientific field of study with a minimum of six (6) years experience OR a Masters Degree with three (3) years equivalent experience. At least one (1) year of direct applicable experience in Quality Assurance / Quality Control required.
* Excellent PC skills which may include database entry/management (e.g. Windows OS, Access, MS Office Suite).
* Candidate must be a US Citizen. The selected applicant will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet and maintain eligibility requirements to be placed in a Public Trust Position. In addition, applicant selected may be subjected to qualification in accordance with Army Regulation 50-6, for placement in the U.S. Army Chemical Personnel Reliability Program (CPRP).
* Flexibility to respond to urgent project requests and/or changing priorities. This position may require a 50-hr work week.
* Drug-free workplace, urine testing for drugs is mandatory.
* This position involves work near or with toxic and hazardous materials and requires ability to wear protective clothing/mask. Must be clean-shaven; must wear seat belts when driving or riding in vehicles on post.
THE FOLLOWING IS DESIRED, BUT NOT REQUIRED TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION:
* Knowledge in instrumental methods of analysis including gas chromatographic analysis (IC, ICP-MS, P&T, and HPLC), toxic material handling, wet chemistry and EPA methods (8260, 8270, 9045, 9012, 8081 and 6020).
* Knowledge of air monitoring sampling, collection and reporting systems.
* Experience with chemical agents, toxic industrial chemicals, hazardous waste management and hazardous waste sampling.
* Development and implementation of ISO (17025, 14001, 9001 Systems) or accredited programs (NELAC, NELAP, etc.)
