Summary Performs second tier Security Technician support by working in a fast-paced, Network Operations Center type environment. Demonstrates proficiency exercising a sound depth and breadth of technical subject knowledge complimented with customer-focused soft skills. Supports Global Security function 24x7x365, by performing incident response, break/fix analysis and repair activities within a multi-dimensional and dynamic logical and/or physical security environment. Executes key role in an enterprise defense in-depth structure; receives work from front line security technicians whose primary focus is surveillance (alarm monitoring). Performs scheduled and break/fix maintenance work according to prescribed methods and procedures in pre-designated windows. Essential Duties *Performs second tier Security Technician support using software and hardware tools to identify and diagnose security events. *Monitors the performance of the security infrastructure, including usage, load patterns, and system response. *Monitors security operations and resolves moderately complex security problems. Observes and controls the status and performance of all security components of products, services. and protects the Level 3 enterprise. Identifies, diagnoses, and resolves problems impacting network security and escalates to higher tier support using time-based and severity criteria. *Performs MACD - moves, adds, changes or deletes work. *Performs tasks associated with the installation, turn up and maintenance of Level 3 Communications' security infrastructure. Education and Experience * Experience: 2+ yrs * Education Level: High School/GED * Field Of Study: Telecommunications or Related Field * A combination of education and experience is acceptable. Knowledge, Skills or Abilities 3-5 years Technician in a telecommunications / physical and network security environment. Exceptional customer service skills. Ability to multi-task during events Ability to communicate effectively with managers, customers and vendors on escalation status. Ability to manage technical workload and engage senior technicians and management as appropriate. Ability to maintain a solid working relationship including collaborative technical activities with peers. Excellent writing and verbal communication skills required. Advanced knowledge of the Level 3 network security landscape - logical and / or physical Good analytical and problem solving skills, Ability to work extra hours as needed. Ability to work shift work needed. Ability to be self-motivated and a self-learner. Work Environment Sits five to seven hours per day. Stands and or walks one to three hours per day. May bend, reach, stoop and crouch throughout the day. Should have the ability to hear, speak and see effectively to perform the necessary tasks of this position. Manual dexterity is occasionally required. The position may require frequent movement and activity relating to using keyboards, viewing data on computer displays, and communicating verbally and in writing to the needs of others. The employee-owner may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Working Conditions: Work is performed in an office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions.
