Job Description
This position is accountable for Management Engineering and process improvement consulting within the Urban Central Region, and on assigned system-wide projects, to ensure the appropriate use of Intermountain resources, enhance productivity, and improve operational and clinical systems. Basic responsibilities include: process improvement, implementing lean concepts, and change management which leads to a culture focused on Operational Effectiveness and Extraordinary Care. Position is responsible for Management Engineering process improvement in all the hospitals in the Urban Central Region and also responsible to help supervise less experienced Management Engineers. This position reports to the Management Engineering Manager and coordinates with hospital administration, the CFO, COO, CNO, and CEO of the region. Assignments may be broad in nature and the position requires the exercise of considerable judgment and originality with minimal supervision. The position requires a high level of independent latitude based on sound professional judgment.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Management Engineering, Business, Mathematics, or Statistics; Education is verified and degree must be obtained from an accredited institution
Five years of work experience in Systems Improvement or Engineering
Three years of healthcare experience
Strong experience/exposure to Lean and Six Sigma methodologies
Strong analytical problem solving skills driven by data supported analysis
Demonstrated ability in project management and time/resource allocation
Strong background in labor productivity and labor management
Excellent public speaking skills and presentation skills using poise and charisma
Ability to interact with people and win their respect and trust
Highly proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Visio, Access, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Engineering or Business administration
Experience with SQL, Essbase, or other data query software
Working knowledge of simulation software, like MedModel, AutoMod, etc.
Excellent communication skills and change management training
Ability to anticipate, identify and resolve complex real world problems using all tools and resources available
